This was actually Jim's car, from about 1989 or so (my memory continues to get worse as I get older). they are a couple of small snapshots (I need to re-scan these larger someday) of one of the real original prototype Titans.

I don't doubt your collected history of that chassis one bit, but the history of that car, in general, isn't 100% complete. It was a complete, buyable chassis kit before it ever was called a Reflex 10 by ol' uncle Ernie. Like I said before, I love the car, and the Premier wedge body is my favorite of all time, but the Reflex was another in a long line of Trinity production cars that they essentially "bought" and renamed as their own. I don't doubt that your car is an early pre-Trinity mass production team car, just based on some of the components (rear shock tower, Losi silicone capped tires, turnbuckles, etc.), but that car was in small run production as a Titan TXO before it ever took the Trinity surname. The Titans all came with white nylon suspension arms, as well, which is the dead giveaway. The production Trinity Reflex ran the TRC wheels and tires, but the Titans also had the yellow A&L steering bellcranks. One of the giveaways to your car that it was a crossover car from that time that James began at Trinity was the Losi wheels on the car. They tested that car for a long time in this area and elsewhere, and it was wicked fast. By the time Joel Johnson got his hands on it, the design, testing and development of the car had already been mostly completed by Dieter and Ken Pohlman. I knew the original machinist of the custom parts that were on it, and James wasn't working for Trinity at the time-he was actually one of Revtech's main drivers. James Dieter (currently of Custom Works, and then hired on by Trinity after the car was done) designed the car locally, and created much of the base of the car from a Losi JRX2 and an RC10. The car was actually sold for a while as a Titan TXO and had nothing to do with Trinity, and wasn't called a Reflex at the time.

However, it looks to me like it was one of the early production Trinity cars. Might be a good tip for anyone with some older tires that still have lots of tread life.If it was, in fact, one of the "original" cars, then it was a low production car before it was ever in Trinity's hands, and thus called a Titan TXO. I am really impressed by how well this restored the tires. Tires are not slippery like with WD-40 or Tire Gel. Rubber is soft and flexible, finish looks nice but not overly shiney. I attribute this to the fact that the dirt (concrete, plaster) caused a premature drying of the rubber.Ĥ) Soak the tires in Amor All - Natural Shine (not the high shine stuff) - Soak for 30minutes, pull allow to dry.ĥ) Soak for another 30 minutes, allow to dryĦ) Soak overnite in the Armor All - Allow to dry. The rubber was not as nice as I would have hoped for, but the treads are like new. Used a small soft scrub brush.Ģ) Rinsed and repeated a second time to remove all the left over debris and dirt.ģ) Let them dry. I went to work on them.ġ) Cleaned the tires with warm water and DAWN dishwashing liquid. They had been run through some concrete, or plaster, or something and then left to dry (they looked terrible, and the rubber felt dried out).

The tires I have for the TXT are some Imex Jumbo Swamp Dawgs. Here is a pretty cool tip that worked darn good for me. I just couldn't see myself riding regularly. I looked at a few bikes during college but never got up the nerve to buy one, the traffic in the college town was ridiculous.

well I ended up with a TXT-1 plus almost every mod that I could think of for a ridiculously cheap price! It's so nice to have a paycheck coming in now that I'm graduated from college. The downside is, I won't be getting the F-350 as quick. He was asking 350!! for the entire setup. He had about 1100 bux invested in hop-ups and stuff, but hadn't really put it all together yet. I ended up buying it from a guy who was getting into helicopters (or rather, was already in them).

But it is cool to have the shift available.Īs for how I came into this. It's got the Emaxx two speed transmission installed, so I'm not sure it's gonna be as low speed as the original transmission was meant to be anyway. Right now I'm not sure how I want to power it, I keep going back and forth between just dropping the extra to get a Brushless setup or if I should just buy the Super Duty and a couple of decent 550 cans. It'll be pretty cool to see what you do with yours.
